Lakelovers - holiday cottages in the Lake District

Grasmere, home of the romantic poets

Grasmere lies almost at the centre of the National Park and is an excellent starting point for excursions in the area. The village nestles in the high hills near one of the prettiest lakes and is well known for its association with Wordsworth and the Romantic poets.

Dove Cottage is in the village while his other residence, Rydal Mount, is a few miles away along a picturesque trail. Grasmere is popular among walking enthusiasts. The area is cross-crossed with trails and in the summer the fells are dotted with friendly walkers enjoying the spectacular scenery and bracing outdoors.

The village, although small, is full of interesting attractions such as the churchyard where Wordsworth is buried and the Gingerbread shop, which is worth a visit. There is also a fair selection of places to eat including several fine restaurants and a large garden centre to explore.

All holidays include FREE private leisure club membership.
