A group or family holiday in Bowness village, just a stroll from the shores of Lake Windermere, brings many of the highlights of the English Lake District within easy reach during your stay. As well as enjoying easy road links to the most famous Lake District villages, and to the start points for walking routes in the Lakeland Fells, you'll find shops, cafes, traditional Lakeland pubs and restaurants in Bowness to entertain you close to home. There are also several lively bars in Bowness, the Royalty Cinema and Old Laundry Theatre.
Many Lake Disrict family attractions are located in the Bowness and Lake Windermere area. Visit the World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness, Lakes Aquarium at Lakeside (only a short drive to the southern end of Lake Windermere) or take a Windermere Lake Cruise from Bowness Bay to Ambleside or Lakeside, two other popular Lake District self-catering destinations.
