Location
This self-catering apartment puts you in the very heart of historic Grasmere. A quaint little village steeped in history, Grasmere was once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth. His home can be visited at Dove Cottage - part of the Wordsworth museum. Grasmere also inspired a number of well-known water colour artists, whose work can be seen in art galleries like the Heaton Cooper Studio.
Stocking up the kitchen is easy in Grasmere, with a small supermarket for everyday essentials and plenty of specialist shops to liven up your packed lunch. For eating out there is a varied range of high quality restaurants, with everything from gastropubs (in the centre and in rural settings) to vegetarian restaurants. The Prelude Restaurant in the centre of the village and the riverside Conservatory Restaurant at the Rothay Garden Hotel are both double AA rosetted.
There are some lovely, easy walks around Grasmere and Rydal Water. A pleasant climb takes you up around Easedale Tarn. Serious walkers might be tempted to take on the summits of Fairfield, Silver How, Helm Crag and Loughrigg; all within easy reach. The starting point for a popular route up Helvellyn is a short drive along the road to Thirlmere.
Exploring other attractions in the Lake District is a dream, as Grasmere lies right at the heart of the Lakes. Follow the A591 to Rydal Water then Ambleside, and the shores of Lake Windermere. To your south explore the breathtaking Langdale Valley, Coniston Water and Hawkshead to mention but a few.
