Location

This charming Ambleside self-catering retreat offers the best of both worlds; the peace and tranquility of a stunning out-of-town location yet only a ten minute stroll to the vibrant village centre of Ambleside. Clappersgate is a small and scattered hamlet, just to the west of Ambleside village and at the foot of Loughrigg Fell. (A footpath leads from the property right out onto this wonderful walking route.)Dramatic mountains provide the backdrop to this area, which is renowned as a hub for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.
A ten minute stroll will take you to the centre of Ambleside; a historic Lakeland village on the northern shores of Windermere. Sophisticated shopping, indulgent eating and a wide range of attractions are to be found in the centre of the village, which is renowned as one of the Lake District's classiest! Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly from Waterhead Pier, which is found just outside Ambleside village (walking distance). These 'steamer' cruises are a truly romantic way to explore, with no need for a car. They ferry passengers the full length of Lake Windermere with stops at Bowness and Lakeside.
For exploring further afield, you'll find this a great starting point. As well as having easy access to the tourism highlights, easy journeys by road or bus will take you to more remote must-see areas such as the Langdale Valley and Coniston Water.
