Location

Clappersgate is a small hamlet, wonderfully located between Ambleside village and the breathtaking Langdale Valley.  Enjoying views to Lake Windermere and all the peace that comes with an out-of-town location, Willow Hill remains incredibly convenient for Ambleside village centre and the entertainment and attractions it has to offer. Or, if you prefer the wilder side of the Lakes you only need wander west into the Langdale Valley to soak up the unforgettable scenery!
Ambleside itself is a popular Lakeland village on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. Historic, attractive and full of traditional charm, the village has grown to become one of the most sophisticated communities in the Lake District. Smart shops, lazy cafes, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and even two cinemas…there's plenty for all ages to do. Of course, a highlight of the village is its location! On the shores of the lake and surrounded by dramatic mountains, you will never forget that you're at the heart of the Lakes. Walk from the village centre to Waterhead Pier, and you'll find 'steamer' cruises departing regularly to Bowness and Lakeside. What a way to explore car-free!
