Lake District country cottages are rarely more magical than this one, only a stroll away from Beatrix Potter's former home (Hill Top), nestled in the sleepy hamlet of Far Sawrey and surrounded by the countryside scenes that inspired this famous writer. Ideal for a couple or family, Church Cottage is unforgettable for its country cottage charms. Old oak beams, dreamy window seats, slate floors warmed by a roaring open fire and a delightful orchard garden. Only a short drive away you'll find the car-ferry crossing Lake Windermere to Bowness, the picturesque village of Hawkshead and the more vibrant and sophisticated shops, facilities and restaurants in Ambleside.

Location
A Lake District holiday home in Far Sawrey takes you away from the hustle and bustle, and into some of the Lake District's most magical countryside. This sleepy hamlet of traditional Lakeland cottages is situated to the west of the Lake, between Hawkshead and the car-ferry crossing Lake Windermere to Bowness. Wonderful Lake District walks surround you, with no need to even use your car and with several excellent country pubs en-route.
Hawkshead village, with its cobbled streets and car-free village centre, is only a couple of miles away, just past lovely Esthwaite Water. Only slightly further afield you'll find shops, restaurants and family attractions in Ambleside, where Windermere Lake Cruises also depart to Bowness and Lakeside. To the west is Coniston Water, where more boating activity awaits along with the opportunity to visit the Brantwood historic house.
Away from the crowds but at the heart of the Lakes, Far Sawrey is a prime location for a relaxed, romantic or family self-catering Lake District holiday.
