Location
Ambleside is possibly the most sophisticated village in the Lake District, alive with excellent restaurants, tasty cafes, indulgent local delicatessens, interesting shops, cinema and cosy bars. It's a fabulous choice for a romantic self-catering break; all the entertainment you need for quality time together is right on your doorstep. A short stroll takes you to Waterhead Pier, where Windermere Lake Cruises depart to Bowness and Lakeside. Evening cruises with live music are a special treat!
Exploring the rest of the Lake District is also easy; the A591 leads you quickly to Windermere village and Bowness, or north to gorgeous Grasmere and beyond. So much to see and do, and a cosy Lake District holiday cottage to return to.
