Location
For a true escape from the daily grind, the Troutbeck Valley is an unrivalled location for a cottage holiday in the Lake District.
At the start of the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, the valley is a haven of peaceful grazing land, scattered rural homes and pretty woodlands. Surrounded by walks in the Lakeland Fells, the Troutbeck Valley is also a favourite with photographers - you'll understand why when you experience the scenery!
The village of Troutbeck, nestled nearby in the valley, has two excellent Lake District pubs.  Both the Queen's Head and the Mortal Man are renowned for their mouthwatering menus, locally sourced where possible and accompanied by real Lakeland ales -  perfect for a special occasion or simply to refuel after a long day on the fells.

From Troutbeck, the Kirkstone Pass leads north to Ullswater or, a short distance south, to Windermere and Bowness. So, despite the blissful seclusion of your Lake District country cottage, you'll never be too far from a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, and of course the rare treat of a lake cruise on one of these famous lakes.
