Location
This excellent Ambleside holiday cottage is perfectly placed for parking up and exploring on foot, with Ambleside village centre and the shore of Lake Windermere only a stroll away.
Ambleside is located on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, and is known as the Lake District's 'gem' of a village. The pretty streets are laced with traditional Lakeland cottages and interesting historic buildings, such as the much-photographed 'Bridge House' which has to be seen to believe its tiny size! But the shopping is sophisticated and contemporary; from boutique-style clothing shops to tasty delicatessens. Lucy's of Ambleside is a great place to stock up the kitchen, or pick up some treats for a picnic.
There are a number of acclaimed Lake District restaurants in Ambleside, and the surrounding area. The Glass House is perfect for a special occasion, within a beautifully converted old saw mill. Ambleside also has a cinema with a difference; Zeffirelli's cinema, pizzeria and jazz bar offers a great evening out for all ages.
Stroll to Waterhead Pier, just outside the village, and you can take a WIndermere Lake Cruise to Bowness or Lakeside - a great way to explore these popular Lake District holiday destinations without using a car. Evening cruises also take place, with buffet meals and live music - a real occasion!
