The accommodation has been upgraded to 4 star standard, but retains an abundance of traditional character. Original oak beams and exposed Westmorland slate walls, warming woodburning stove and endless interesting heirlooms. Private parking for 1 or 2 cars at the bottom of the drive. There is a delightful shared garden and furnished patio. An entrance hall leads into the living / dining room, full of character with original oak beams, exposed slate walls and woodburning stove. Large dining table with views through a bay-style window. This lovely holiday cottage in the Troutbeck Valley promises a great location for a varied Lake District holiday. Sitting between Lake Windermere, Ambleside and Ullswater, The Troutbeck Valley has a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere of scattered traditional Lake District cottages and grazing land. Troutbeck is home to several acclaimed Lake District pubs, including the Queen's Head (at the beginning of the Kirkstone Pass - your breathtaking route to Ullswater) and the acclaimed Mortal Man in the village itself. The valley is immersed in fabulous walking territory.
With easy access to the A591, which leads to Windermere village, Bowness and Ambleside, you'll never be too far from shops, restaurants and Lake District attractions such as Windermere Lake Cruises and the World of Beatrix Potter.
You'll find a Booths supermarket only minutes away in Windermere village, as well as excellent bus links throughout the Lakes if you'd prefer to leave the car.
Nearby Ambleside, on the northern shore of Windermere, is one of the Lake District's most enjoyable villages. Explore tasty delis, sophisticated shops, seek out expert Lake District walking advice and take a stroll to Waterhead pier where steamers depart to Bowness and Lakeside. Continue from Ambleside on the A591, and you'll come across Rydal Water and historic Grasmere, inspirational home of William Wordsworth.
