Old Coachmans Cottage, Ambleside

Arrival day: Saturday | Sleeps: 2

VisitEngland 4 star rated property

We fell in love with this romantic, topsy turvy cottage in Ambleside. Tucked away from the crowds, Old Coachman's Cottage remains only a short stroll from shops, restaurants, and the stunning shores of Lake Windermere. Step inside to find an enchanting bedroom suite, sleek with polished wood floors and furnished with antique charm. Upstairs, find a contemporary open plan living space under original vaulted beams, opening out to a fantastic terrace. This is a dreamy hideaway, with everything you need. Cosy up inside, dine in or dine out with ease, sip coffee or drinks al-fresco overlooking Ambleside to the fells, and stargaze late into the night. A perfect spot for a romantic break or honeymoon in the Lake District. The owners regret that this property does not accept babies.

Location
Ambleside village is an excellent location for a stress-free break or honeymoon in the Lake District. Only a stroll from Windermere Lake Cruises departures at Waterhead Pier, the village combines an enchanting collection of historic buildings and traditional Lakeland cottages, with a sophisticated scattering of boutique shops, irresistible cafés and acclaimed Lake District restaurants.

You'll find everything you need for stocking up the kitchen within Ambleside's network of attractive streets. Our tip is to pick up a picnic at Lucy's of Ambleside - a tempting local deli run by a local food hero! For evening entertainment, sample Lakeland ale in one of the many traditional pubs, treat yourself to a high-class meal - The Glass House comes highly recommended - or even catch a film. Ambleside has two interesting cinema venues with restaurant, bar and live music to boot.

Ambleside is an excellent base for walking in the Lake District, and the setting will inspire you with its backdrop of majestic Lake District mountains surrounding Lake Windermere. You'll find advice on hand in expert outdoor shops and routes available from Ambleside tourist information centre. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly from Waterhead Pier, just outside the village centre, stopping off at Bowness and Lakeside - a great way to explore car-free. Romantic evening cruises on Lake Windermere are also available, with buffet food and live music.
