Location
Ambleside is a popular Lakeland village on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, surrounded by breathtaking Lake District mountains and steeped with local history. The shopping streets, although scattered with traditional Lake District cottages and historic buildings, are sophisticated and interesting. Find everything from boutique clothing and gift stores to local produce and outdoor clothing.
Ambleside is a popular base for walking in the Lake District. Keen walkers will be delighted to ditch their car and climb local peaks such as Loughrigg and Wansfell without having to drive to a starting point. Another way to explore car-free is to catch a Lake Windermere steamer from Waterhead Pier - your scenic route to Bowness village and Lakeside at the southern end of the lake.
