Location
Chapel Stile is a small village in the picturesque Langdale Valley, just 4 miles from Ambleside yet immersed in peaceful, untouched landscapes. Remember to bring your camera for photos of the stunning Langdale Pikes.

From your Chapel Stile holiday cottage, a pleasant first outing takes you down the peaceful Langdale Valley road, arriving at the Old Dungeon Ghyll walkers' bar. Here you can sit and marvel at the remote and unspoilt scenery for the first time.
You'll also want to bring your walking boots for exploring a wealth of routes, for all abilities and in every direction! These range from a leisurely stroll to Elterwater tarn or challenging routes up the Langdale Pikes themselves.

Ambleside is just 4 miles away, a good place to stop and stock up the kitchen. The vibrant village centre boasts attractions of its own; lazing in cafes, visiting historic sites such as the roman fort, or strolling to the shores of Lake Windermere to take a steamer cruise to Bowness or Lakeside. Ambleside tourist information centre is a useful port of call for walking routes, and there are plenty of expert outdoor stores where advice will be on hand.

You'll find a handful of excellent Lake District country pubs in the Langdale Valley, serving locally brewed ale and hearty food. If you're looking for a special evening out, why not try the Glass House in Ambleside or seek out the famous Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant at Outgate?
