Outside, the grounds are there to be roamed including the tranquil lake shore.

Hawkshead village lies to your south, the Langdale Valley to your west and historic Grasmere (home of William Wordsworth) to your north. Walkers will be spoilt for choice, with many famous Lake District walking routes nearby. From the gentle circuit of Tarn Hows, to the challenging routes on the Langdale Pikes, there's something close by for every ability.
Nearby Ambleside is one of the most sophisticated villages in the Lake District; the perfect place to stock up the kitchen and explore the interesting array of shops. The village is also a foodie's heaven - local delicatessens, hearty traditional pubs and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as the Glass House. Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Waterhead Pier, only a stroll from Ambleside village centre. A great way to visit Bowness, or explore Lakeside at the southern end of Lake Windermere.
