Ambleside's location is also ideal for keen walkers; numerous spectacular routes begin nearby and the village is renowned as a hotspot for hiking gear and advice. For exploring, the A591 road leads effortlessly south to Bowness, north to Grasmere and on via simple navigation to the Langdales and Coniston.
