A Grade II listed Lakeland cottage in a peaceful cobbled courtyard setting, just off the 'picture postcard' centre of Hawkshead village - the Lake District doesn't get much quainter than this! You'll fall in love with the quirky exposed stone walls, fabulous fireplace and attractive old beams. Rose Cottage is full of charm at any time of year; a romantic retreat for one or two couples, an ideal base for walking groups or a comfy family bolt hole. There's space to dine in, a cosy ambience in the open fire-lit lounge and only a stroll through Hawkshead's pretty cobbled alleyways to tea rooms, traditional pubs and to several local pubs and restaurants. Please note that this property does have a cot, but does not provide towels.

Private parking for 1 car in this central village location. A traditional entrance porch leads into the ever-cosy lounge, with sinking sofas, open fire and attractive exposed beams. The open plan kitchen / dining room is well-equipped and a pleasant place for a sociable meal. Upstairs to the 3 beautiful bedrooms; 2 doubles and 1 bunk room. House bathroom with shower over bath.

Location
A holiday cottage in Hawkshead places you at the heart of historic Lakeland, surrounded by traditional Lake District cottages and just a stone's throw from Hawkshead's car-free, 15th century village centre.
The village is home to interesting historic buildings such as the Hawkshead Grammar School - a museum of 16th century school life. William Wordsworth was famously a pupil at the school.
Hawkshead village lies between Lake Windermere and Coniston, taking you slightly away from the madding crowds. There are glorious surrounding landscapes to explore; Esthwaite Water, spectacular Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest with its cycling routes and magical sculpture trails. For hikers, Hawkshead is an ideal bolt-hole to leisurely or challenging local routes.
Hawkshead is renowned for its strong connection with the children's author Beatrix Potter, who lived close by in the village of Near Sawrey. Her home there is open for the public to explore, and one of the Lake District's most magical attractions for Potter fans!
