Location
The small hamlet of Near Sawrey and Esthwaite Water nestles in gorgeous countryside, between Hawkshead village and the western shores of Lake Windermere. The location is great for walking, a treat for Beatrix Potter fans and convenient for exploring many of the Lake District's highlights.
Near Sawrey is known for its connections with Beatrix Potter, who lived at Hill Top - now owned by the National Trust and open to the public. Hill Top is located just behind the Tower Bank Arms country pub, which featured in Beatrix Potter's 'Tales of Jemima Puddleduck'.
Drive a short distance to the western shore of Lake Windermere, and you'll find the car-ferry crossing to Bowness. Bowness is a busy and bustling tourist destination, with contemporary shops, family attractions and a wide range of pubs, bars and restaurants. Windermere Golf Club is easily accessible, just outside Bowness village.
Esthwaite Water is known as one of England's finest trout fishing lakes, also offering pike fishing, coarse fishing and roach fishing for all ages at Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery.
