Location
This large Ambleside holiday home couldn't be better located for a family holiday or friendly occasion. Surrounded by National Trust land and part of a superb historic building, the property remains only a few minutes' stroll from Ambleside village and the shores of Lake Windermere. Ambleside is an attractive, historic village on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. Through years of popularity thanks to its spellbinding location and scenery, the village has grown to become one of the most sophisticated tourist destinations in the Lakes. But it hasn't lost its traditional charm; cute cottages and fascinating ancient buildings share the streets with contemporary shops and quality eateries…there are even two cinema venues. There is so much choice for a special meal out, or even just a relaxed one in a pub. Enjoy!
Just outside Ambleside village centre is Waterhead Pier, where Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Bowness and Lakeside. The 'steamers' are a fantastic way to explore car-free, with the whole group or family.
The A591 winds its way from Ambleside to Grasmere and Keswick, branching off to Coniston and such delights as the Langdale Valley and Hawkshead village. Ambleside really is a superb base from which to explore, with or without a car.
