It's right off the famously scenic A591, the main route into the heart of the Lakes, and just a couple of miles up the road from Bowness Bay and the shores of Lake Windermere. A great base for exploring, with plenty on your doorstep too.
In Windermere village itself, you'll find a high-class Booths supermarket, selling the finest Lakeland produce as well as all the daily essentials. Windermere is home to several traditional pubs, serving real Lakeland ale and hearty pub meals. You'll find lazy cafes for breakfast out, and excellent Lake District restaurants such as Jerichos.
Just a walk or short taxi ride away, Bowness village nestles on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere. Hire boats and row boats come and go in Bowness Bay, Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside, and Windermere Golf Club is found just outside the village.
