Patio doors lead to the large furnished veranda, perfect for al-fresco living. The modern kitchen and dining area are cleverly set apart by a dividing half wall and contrasting floor tiles. Location
White Cross holiday park is located on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, close to Windermere village, and only a short drive from Ambleside. If you're looking for a modern Lake District holiday home with lake access, this lodge-style accommodation makes the perfect base.
Close by in Windermere village, you'll find all the amenities you could need during your stay. Booths supermarket is a great place to stock up the kitchen, with a high quality range of local produce and all the daily essentials. It's right next to the headquarters of Lakeland Ltd - popular with any cooking fans! Windermere village also has a number of traditional Lakeland pubs, daytime cafes and quirky local shops.
Only a couple of miles down the road from Windermere is the bustling village of Bowness. There are many Lake District family attractions in Bowness, including the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, hire boats on Lake Windermere, and of course the famous 'steamers' . Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - both well worth a visit during your Lake District holiday. Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness.
For exploring further afield, the A591 leads easily north to Ambleside, historic Grasmere and beyond. From Troutbeck Bridge, you can also drive the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, which takes in dramatic scenery on its winding way to Ullswater.
There are plenty of scenic walks in the surrounding area. From Windermere village, an easy ascent of Orrest Head gives simply breathtaking views down over the Lake. The Troutbeck Valley is also only a couple of miles away. There you'll find more scenic walks, excellent country pubs and the start of the dramatic Kirkstone Pass drive to Ullswater.
