Location
This super-stylish Ambleside holiday cottage takes a fantastic location; only 50 metres from Lake Windermere's shore and Windermere Lake Cruises at Waterhead Pier. The property is also just a very short stroll from the centre of Ambleside village.
On the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is one of the Lake District's most cosmopolitan communities. You'll lose yourself in sophisticated shops, sample local produce in cafes and delis, and  try acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as 'The Glass House' - favoured even by Gordon Ramsay!
Surrounded by Lakeland Fells and walking routes, Ambleside village is a traditional gathering point for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. You'll pick up all sorts of tips in the expert outdoor shops, and find route tips available at the Ambleside tourist information centre.

If you're looking for historic interest or a bit of culture, there's plenty to see. The village's much-photographed 'Bridge House' is one of the oldest and smallest houses in the Lake District. Roman Fort Galava is just outside the village, and poet William Wordsworth's former family home can be visited nearby at Rydal Mount and Gardens.
With the A591 providing easy access to historic Grasmere and beyond, you'll find endless Lake District attractions within reach. Our tip is to take a Sunday drive from Ambleside over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass - your scenic route to Ullswater with lunch at the renowned Queen's Head en-route.
