Rydal Cottage, Bowness

Arrival day: Saturday | Sleeps: 2

Nicely tucked away, just off the heart of Bowness village, this boutique retreat couldn't be better placed for a romantic holiday in the Lake District. Rydal Cottage is adorable for its 'chocolate box' traditional charms - stone flags and stripped wooden floors, heartwarming fireplace and more. But the cottage has been infused with stylish interior design; fabulous fabrics, modern art and sophisticated furnishings giving the place a rather glamorous feel. Even the bathroom is made for pampering. This is a special place to spend precious time together, and to rest your heads after a day exploring. Vibrant village life surrounds you, evening entertainment is a stroll away and the shores of Lake Windermere are enviably close.

Accommodation in detail
Permit parking on the little lane outside the cottage. Entrance hallway leading into the cleverly styled lounge, with a handsome Westmorland fireplace, contemporary lighting, relaxed furnishings and a sumptuous rug to warm the traditional polished stone floor. Sophisticated separate dining room, with plenty of space for 4 people, and a modern little kitchen with access to the small patio area. Upstairs to the stunning bedroom, with stripped wooden floors and king-size sleigh bed. Wonderfully girly separate dressing room with chaise longue, standing mirror and dressing table. Luxury bathroom with rainfall shower over bath.

Location
A holiday cottage in Bowness is a great choice for a varied Lake District holiday, and there's plenty for couples to enjoy during a romantic break or Lake District honeymoon. Bowness village is found on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere. The lively village centre is packed with tempting eateries, traditional Lakeland pubs and a selection of sophisticated shops - from handy a Tesco supermarket to clothing boutiques.

Stroll to the lake shore at Bowness Bay, and you can rent an old-fashioned row boat, a modern powered boat or take a romantic cruise on one of the famous Lake Windermere steamers. These elegant passenger boats depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - a great way to explore the full length of the lake without having to drive at all.

A car ferry crosses Lake Windermere from Bowness, taking you towards Hawkshead and the homeland of the famous children's author Beatrix Potter. Visit her home at Hill Top in Near Sawrey, and treat yourselves to a romantic meal at one of the fabulous country pubs in the area.
Windermere Golf Club is found just outside Bowness village, on the way to the scenic Lyth Valley. Even if you're not a golfer, this area is well worth exploring as it is home to some of the finest country pubs in the Lake District - such as the Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank or the Wild Boar Inn on the Crook road.
