The Courtyard, Ambleside
Arrival day: Saturday | Sleeps: 2
This enchanting romantic hideaway is part of an imposing original gentleman's residence, a mile outside Ambleside at the mouth of the Langdale Valley and nestled on the slopes of Loughrigg Fell. A sweeping private driveway leads through glorious grounds to this magnificent spot, and the views from the gardens are simply breathtaking. The Courtyard is a delightfully topsy turvy hideaway. The use of space is rather ingenious, including a conservatory entrance with comfy chairs and two cosy lounges - one galleried above the other. Outside, you have a prettily furnished patio all to yourselves, and the extent of the main gardens to explore. A path leads directly onto Loughrigg Fell - it's an absolute must to wander to the summit and gaze down over Lake Windermere.
