Built in 1785, Herdwick Cottage is a traditional dwelling located in the picturesque village of Cark-in-Cartmel. This romantic cottage is the ideal place to relax with the soothing sounds of the rolling river right on your doorstep. The property benefits from being tastefully refurbished to a high standard retaining character features whilst effortlessly blending contemporary comforts.
This little village has two pubs, a post office and a village shop; cark-in-Cartmel is somewhat un-spoilt by the high levels of tourism that can make the inner areas of Lakeland, at times, quite crowded. The village is steeped in history and in the 19th century, Cark-in-Cartmel was a mill village. The first mill in the village was a Corn Mill owned by nearby Cartmel Priory.
The area is renowned for its racecourse and people travel for far and wide to the action packed events there. The area is also home to the infamous Cartmel sticky toffee pudding that is a must try! The accommodation comprises. Entrance into lounge with wonderful feature fire place and wood burning stove. Leading to the kitchen/ dining area is fully fitted with complete range of appliances. Stairs from lounge lead to 1st floor. Bedroom 1 is a good sized double where a traditional Lakeland stone wall has been restored. Bedroom 2 is a single. Bathroom; Bath with shower over. To the front of the property there is seating ideal for relaxing in the sun by the river.
