There are just 9 attractive lodges within the grounds, with use of a jetty for boating and playing! The location is scenic and inspiring, with a backdrop of dramatic Lakeland fells - this is also a great base for walking in the Lake District!

Bowness village is the place to stock up your kitchen, with a wide range of shops, a Tesco supermarket and a couple of excellent delis. There are a wide range of restaurants in Bowness, to suit all budgets - from top quality Fish & Chips to fine dining overlooking the lake. Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness, and you'll find mini golf and tennis facilities available on 'The Glebe' - a park on the lake shore.

Even if you don't bring your own boats or canoes, you can still take to Lake Windermere in Bowness Bay. The Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside, and row boats and powered hire boats are available. There are also many family attractions in Bowness, such as the Royalty cinema and Old Laundry Theatre, and the award-winning World of Beatrix Potter attraction. If you're Beatrix Potter fans, why not take the car-ferry across Lake Windermere to visit her former home at Hill Top near Hawkshead?
