Cul Coed, Lakeside
Arrival day: Friday | Sleeps: 4
We fell in love with this charming traditional Lakeland Cottage. Perfectly located in the quaint Hamlet of Backbarrow. Cul Coed provides the ideal base for exploring the southern and central lakes and even venturing further out into the spectacular and unspoilt Western Lake District. On entering the cottage you are immediately absorbed into Lakeland life. The property has been restored and decorated with its history in mind, yet provides all the modern luxuries one could want. The rear patio is perfect for balmy summer evenings and for watching the passing trains on the famous Lakeside to Haverthwaite Railway. In direct yet idyllic contrast the log burner invites you to cosy in to the sumptuous leather sofas.
This cottage has everything you could want for a perfect get away in the South Lakes. Close to other great towns such as Grange and Cartmel, which are very nearby by car, it also provides the opportunity to explore car free as you travel north using both the steam railway and the steamers. This property also offers a discount at the nearby Whitewater Hotel leisure facilities, for only £5 per person per day. There is an array of superb attractions nearby such as the aforementioned Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway, Lakeland Motor Museum and the Lakes Aquarium to name just a few. The highly recommended Swan at newby Bridge is also very close by and serves some excellently prepared, locally sourced food and drink.
