“This cottage is in a beautiful setting just outside Cartmel.”
Lovely views and idyllic gardens, with a specific closed in field to allow your dog to have a run. It’s not for nervous drivers as has to be accessed via narrow lanes but is typical of the Lake District. Lots of places to visit nearby.
Much thought has gone into comfort for guests. It’s cosy, but bright and airy and warm . The bedrooms are ample and beds very comfortable. Lovely duvets and pillows for a good nights sleep. Lots of thoughtful touches including freshly cut flowers , fresh local bread and milk and even skin care products, shampoo and conditioner so I came home feeling pampered.
Although dog friendly the owners are clear dogs must be well behaved and I did feel hyper vigilant, and if it had been raining I would have wanted to ensure dogs were washed , but a dog shower is provided outside the main house. We had towels in the porch to dry wet feet etc. If I were the owner of this house I would want guests with dogs to respect the high quality standard of this cottage.
The only minor niggle is the tv in the living room had poor quality sound. It’s not our priority as we were out late two evenings and I had a book to read but we found it hard listening when playing a dvd or watching any programmes. Other electrical goods fridge freezer, oven washing machine, and tumble dryer ( if needed) all excellent condition .
We loved it and would come again. Best Sykes Cottage I have ever stayed in .
My friend who came with us said it’s the best holiday cottage she has ever stayed in.
Thank you Karen & Martyn
