It is furnished in traditional style, with pretty furniture and plenty of personal touches plus an easily worked kitchen, making it an ideal base for exploring the many and varied walks which radiate from this famous Lakeland village. Converted a few years ago, the tall stout stone walls of these cottages and the courtyard could tell some tales! If there are such things as ghosts, any roaming spirits at Ecclerigg Place could be those of the horses who pulled the omnibuses in the old days, when Ambleside bus station was here. Horses gave way to motors, and buses gave way to the postcard printing firm of Sanderson and Dixon, until finally the business moved out and the builders moved in. Now you can stay in the result and share in the making of history.
