This wonderful Lakeland cottage residence, dating back to the 18th Century, occupies a quiet and peaceful location at the foot of Orrest Head, and yet only half a mile from Windermere village and the lake. If you yearn for a little luxury in a substantial family home within a superb setting, then look no further as Westwood has everything for that perfect holiday at any time of the year.
Finished to a very high standard, complete with every modern day comfort and displaying an abundance of character with adorning beams, a welcoming 'woodburning' stove and a wealth of stripped antique pine, this large cottage ensures relaxation within its thick stone walls. There is excellent access to Ambleside, Bowness and Ullswater, and a short stroll will bring you into the many delights Windermere village has to offer. Walks are plentiful - you can walk straight from the cottage up Orrest Head ( see photograph ), and the lush Troutbeck Valley is nearby, where two well known country pubs serve tempting bar meals and real ales.
The accommodation comprises; Entrance into a magnificent farmhouse kitchen / dining room with everything for any family meal and a large table to gather around. A sumptuous living room complete with deep cushioned furnishings, heavy beams, 'woodburner', and plenty of books and games, help relax after a hard day on our fells. Downstairs cloakroom with plenty of room for all walking clobber and mountain bikes. A spatial flow staircase takes you to the first floor with two double bedrooms and a twin, the master double enjoys an en-suite facility, and the main bathroom is also on this level. A further flight of stairs takes you to a vaulted suite with double bedroom, dressing area and bathroom but please remember to 'duck or grouse', in the doorways. A shared driveway leads you to private parking for 2 cars and there is a walled sitting out patio area for meals 'al fresco'.
