If searching for peace and quiet in a romantic hideaway with fabulous views then here you have found a special retreat within a quintessential English country estate comprising 37 acres of formal and natural gardens and woodland, complete with an acre of private lake frontage and your very own rowing boats.
This first floor apartment forms part of a magnificent original Gentlemen's residence, built at the turn of the last century and designed in the arts & crafts style. The breathtaking views over Esthwaite Water towards the surrounding mountains incorporating Coniston, Wetherlam, Crinkle Crags and Bowfell ranges with glimpses of the Langdales, have to be seen to be fully appreciated, yet here you can really soak them up. To say the grounds are wonderful is an understatement; you find many vantage points within the vast acreage where hidden pathways lead to more and more magic. Nearby Hawkshead is teeming with life, having cobbled streets, excellent eating out spots and country pubs, and the village store is open 'till 8pm: whilst Near Sawrey boasts The Tower Bank Arms, once owned by Beatrix Potter and featured in her books, serving delicious food and real ales. Behind Broomriggs there is National Trust land and Miss Potter's favourite tarn, Moss Eccles, that she once owned jointly with the Broomriggs estate. From here there are excellent paths to other tarns and viewpoints at Claiffe Heights and Latterbarrow. Miss Potter never felt so close. This picturesque escape is exactly that and makes for a perfect holiday at any time of the year.
The accommodation comprises; a shared entrance hall with staircase to the first floor. Private entrance hallway with space for walking clobber. The magnificent lounge / dining room is full of light through the leaded bay window commanding panoramic lake and fell views. Deep cushioned sofa and chairs for relaxing. One double bedroom also boasts glorious views, with en-suite bathroom. The second double bedroom also has a shower room. Each of the bedrooms can be configured with twin or king size bed. The neat kitchen has all you need and the communal laundry room also houses the rowing boats' oars and life jackets. There is a resident groundsman who keeps the beautiful grounds in "tip-top" shape. As you wonder through the gardens and down the sweeping driveway through rhododendron groves to the private lake frontage, keep your eyes open for wildlife, you might see deer.
