This beautiful Lakeland residence is steeped in history being once a school house and still displaying a plaque on the exterior, yet inside the 'house school rules' are to relax and thoroughly enjoy... All this history and character are evident here blending effortlessly with modern day sophistication making this Lakeland hideaway something very special. The mixture of slate and carpeted floors, oak beams, picture windows and the warming woodburning stove set in an inglenook fireplace are complimented by sumptuous furnishings, "state of the art" 21st century bathrooms and chic bedrooms. The conservatory is a great place to relax and enjoy formal dining together and the loft bedroom is that little bit special complete with star gazing facility from the comfort of your bed and don't forget the luxurious en-suite with roll top bath. Needless to say walks are tremendous straight from your door here including the National Trust 'Fell Foot Park' only a 2 minute stroll away where you can wander by the lake and soak up the breathtaking views. Your own acre of gardens and woodland are a delight and a full of great places to explore and the small hamlet of Newby Bridge is only a mile or so away with the first class Swan Leisure Club and restaurant with bar, a tempting distraction after a hard day on the fells. If searching for a magical Lakeland 'getaway from it all holiday', in this beautiful corner of England, then you will find The School House very hard to beat.
The accommodation comprises; an entrance hall with slate floor and 17th century settle leads into the inner hallway with wonderful drawing room housing the inglenook fireplace and woodburner which opens into the dining conservatory overlooking the garden; a great place to relax, enjoy good food and wine and conversation late into the night. The breakfast kitchen has everything you need with separate utility and pantry and doors opening out to the patio and garden. On the ground floor are a double bedroom and a luxurious shower room with power shower. Also on the ground floor is the games room with pool table, here the competitive side of you will come out.Upstairs to the first floor; king size bedroom with beautiful views, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with bath and separate double shower cubicle complete with power shower. There are two further bedrooms on this level; one double and one twin bedroom and a luxury shower room with double cubicle. Upstairs again to the loft bedroom complete with king size star gazing bed and beautiful en-suite with roll top bath. Outside are the gardens and woodland glade extending to an acre and enclosed with some beautiful vantage points and perfect for summer al-fresco living.
