Friends of the Lake District – protecting our irreplaceable landscapes

As a business dedicated to Lake District tourism, we’re proud to attract thousands of holidaymakers to our region every year. But we know our success comes with a responsibility – to put something back. We want to protect our precious landscapes and world famous fells for future generations of plants, animals and local people as well as holidaymakers!

Our Lake District fells and upland environments are of national and international importance; for biodiversity, agriculture, health & wellbeing as well as our outdoor recreation. But many of these treasured natural assets are threatened by the effects of climate change, and must be managed carefully in order to be protected.

We are the first major sponsor of Friends of the Lake District; the only charity wholly dedicated to protecting Cumbria's irreplaceable landscapes. Together we will repair well-trodden footpaths, nurture woodlands, raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity, promote sustainable tourism and much, much more.
