Sandwiched between the two May bank holidays there\u2019s a satisfying filling of events that are perfect for couples enjoying a romantic getaway. Here\u2019s 5 grown-up #ThingsToDo in the Lake District this May 2018.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Cumberland Sausage Festival May 5-7th<\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1389631 b-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/SausageFest2-pfp-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"Cumberland Sausage Festival\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/SausageFest2-pfp-800x600.jpg\"><\/h2>\n<p>The Lake District\u2019s event calendar is packed for the first May bank holiday, but one event we always love it the foodie festival at Muncaster Castle. We\u2019re fans of regional TV chef Peter Sidwell, who will be delighting with a live cookery demo, alongwith other top food chefs. There is always a great turnout of stallholders, all with their own take on the famous Cumberland Sausage, so come hungry!<\/p>\n<h2>2. Keswick Jazz Festival, May 11-13th<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1366556 b-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/Keswick-Jazz-Festival-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/Keswick-Jazz-Festival-1024x683.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Kicking off the grown-up entertainment for the month is the UK\u2019s largest jazz festival, held in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/short-breaks-in-keswick\/\">Keswick<\/a> across various venues. The 4-day celebration promises an all-star line-up of the best of best of New Orleans, Swing, Hot Club, Classic, Traditional, Mainstream Jazz and Blues. If you get a taste for Keswick culture, book your return visit for June 1-3rd for Keswick\u2019s renowned beer festival (Friday tickets only left). Keswick Beer Festival 2018 sees fans return for the 22nd year and has a great festival atmosphere.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Windermere Boat Show May 18-20th<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1389630 b-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/WBS-Poster-2018-web-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/WBS-Poster-2018-web-724x1024.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Also promising to deliver on atmosphere is Windermere Boat Show 2018, which is a celebration of \u2018life on the lake\u2019. Whilst the best-of-the-best as far as the boating sector goes will be showing off world-class vessels and innovative prototypes, Windermere\u2019s Boat Show is also great for beginners wanting to dip a toe in kayaking or wake boarding, for example. This is a free family-friendly event and its third year will be bigger than ever. New to 2018 is a \u2018outdoor adventure zone\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Windermere is the UK\u2019s largest lake, yet is only a short drive from the M6 and Bowness is a delightful shoreside holiday destination. With all the charm of a Victorian resort, plus the class and vibrancy of a 21st century.<\/p>\n<h2>4. World Whisky Day May 19th<\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1389629 b-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/whf.jpg\" alt=\"Whisky Festival\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/whf.jpg\"><\/h2>\n<p>Saturday 19 May 2018 is not only the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but it is also World Whisky Day. The Lake District\u2019s premier distillery, The Lakes Distillery on Bassenthwaite, have been named as one of the 8 distilleries to visit before you die by World Whisky Day. They\u2019ve launched a festival to and invite friends to join them over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of May for the first ever Lakes Spring Whisky Festival 2018.<\/p>\n<p>#WorldWhiskyDay #cocktail #RoyalWedding #Loveisintheair<\/p>\n<h2>5. A superb carnival festival awaits as families spread out across the Castle front lawn, soaking up the entertainment across various marques, the main stage, circus top and walkabout entertainers. An al fresco Prosecco bar and delectable choice of artisan Cumbrian producers makes this an event not to miss.
