{"id":1589,"date":"2016-02-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelovers.cottage-search.com\/blog\/whos-the-next\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T16:03:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T16:03:25","slug":"whos-the-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/whos-the-next\/","title":{"rendered":"National Trust hosts its 1st Children\u2019s Book Festival Weekend \u2013 Wray Castle, Ambleside"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>National Trust hosts its 1st\u00a0Children\u2019s Book Festival Weekend \u2013 Wray Castle, Ambleside<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the weekend of 5th-6th, March 2016 the exciting family and dog friendly Wray Castle, Ambleside, is home to the National Trust\u2019s first ever Children\u2019s Book Festival \u2013 just one of many special events being held across the Lakes throughout 2016 celebrating the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter\u2019s birthday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kids and parents alike will also love a special \u2018Book Boat\u2019 being put on by Windermere Lake Cruises to\u00a0ferry festival goers from Bowness Pier to the main event at Wray Castle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The event gathers together an impressive collection of today\u2019s famous children\u2019s authors and illustrators,\u00a0including Axel Scheffler, Philip Ardagh, Benji Davies, Sophy Henn, Steve Antony, Jo Empson, Christopher Lloyd, Malcolm Judge, Phoenix Comics, Tracey Corderoy and Steven Lenton.<\/p>\n<h3>16 year old Beatrix Potter on holiday<\/h3>\n<p>In the Summer of 1882 at 16 years old Beatrix Potter stayed at Wray Castle and her love of Ambleside and the Lake District began!<\/p>\n<p>Come and get swept up in the inspirational magic that is\u00a0a\u00a0Lake District holiday.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend\u2019s festival is sure to get creative minds flowing and the stand-out scenery, nature and wildlife in and around Wray Castle will stay in kids memories for years to come.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A holiday in the Lake District has always been and always will be so much more than a getaway. \u00a0You can not help but be inspired and driven to create.
