Right next to the promenade are the Ornamental gardens, a lovely spot for a wander amongst the ponds, and watch the ducks and interesting birdlife that congregates here. There\u2019s a bandstand and benches to sit and eat ice cream or enjoy a cuppa and watch the world go by.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Hampsfield Fell<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Head out of the centre of town just up the hill towards the \u2018higher\u2019<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Grange Golf Club, with limited parking in a layby, and you can<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>climb the glorious Hampsfell. Head across the fell and up to the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Hospice \u2013 a small landmark on the top with steps up to the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>topograph, which gives you breathtaking 360 views out to sea,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>over to the Cartmel Valley, and the Kent Estuary.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What not to miss<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Grange Lido<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As you walk up the Prom, you\u2019ll come across Grange Lido \u2013 a rare Art Deco outdoor swimming pool and the only remaining Lido in the north of England. It was closed over 25 years ago and there is a big community effort and plans afoot to reopen as a community asset, with shops, cafes and a 50m pool at its heart. There are several nature reserves and sites of special specific interest nearby! Grange has some of the finest gardens on the Cumbrian coast &#8211; the ornamental gardens has a lake with many local birds. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>St Paul\u2019s Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">St. Paul\u2019s Church in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Grange is located on Hampsfell Road in Crown Hill. The church building is gothic revival style, constructed from limestone with sandstone dressings and slate roof. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Nearby Cartmel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Just 2.5 miles West from Grange-over-Sands is the village of Cartmel. Home to Cartmel Racecourse which has been in use since 1856 with year-round events. If horse racing isn\u2019t you\u2019re thing, there\u2019s plenty of pubs, restaurants and eateries to enjoy.<\/p>\n<h2>Food and Drink<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">You\u2019ll find independent shops and bakeries, award-winning cafes and butchers. A couple of our favourites are<span class=\"s1\"> The Hazelmere<\/span> \u2013 which makes all its own bread, cakes and amazing pastries and pies for serving in the shop and caf\u00e9 \u2013 zero food miles!
