Renowned fell walker Alfred Wainwright once described Eskdale as &#8220;one of the loveliest of Lakeland&#8217;s valleys.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The falls, which are located to the east of Eskdale, are arguably the most stunning of their kind in all the Lake District National Park.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Where Do You Park for Stanley Ghyll Waterfall?<\/h2>\n<p>Unfortunately, there is no official Stanley Ghyll Waterfall parking. Visitors typically park in the car park at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Dalegarth\/@54.3953491,-3.2747856,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xac4d891524147d2e?sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwiUiI-JifL8AhXMglwKHV8FC10Q_BJ6BQiGARAI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dalegarth Train Station<\/a> and enjoy an extended walk to the falls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stanley Ghyll Waterfall Parking:<\/strong><br \/>\nDalegarth Station<br \/>\nRavenglass &amp; Eskdale Railway<br \/>\nBoot<br \/>\nHolmrook<br \/>\nCumbria<br \/>\nCA19 1TF<\/p>\n<p>Amenities at Dalegarth Train Station include public toilets, a gift shop and an on-site cafe. Sit in and indulge in a hearty meal to fuel your adventure, or pick up hot sausage rolls, picnic boxes or ice cream to enjoy on your travels.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a small Lake District National Park Authority car park available nearby. The Trough House Bridge car park can be found using the postcode CA19 1TF.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll find this by taking the exit opposite the Boot School House and following the road a short distance. Please keep in mind that as parking is free spaces are limited.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Getting to Stanley Ghyll Waterfall<\/h2>\n<p>There are a number of routes leading to Stanley Ghyll Force Waterfall. Depending on time and ability, you&#8217;re sure to enjoy a scenic stroll here.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of our favourite Eskdale waterfall walks begins at Dalegarth Train Station. Either park up or catch the train along the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and depart here.<\/p>\n<p>A trail runs from Dalegarth Train Station toward the Brook House Inn. Follow the lane opposite the inn toward St Catherine\u2019s Church, passing the church on your left.<\/p>\n<p>From here, a series of large stepping stones cross the peaceful waters of the River Esk. The path continues alongside the river, entering the towering trees of\u00a0Stanley Ghyll Woods.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5017 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/Stepping-stones-crossing-the-River-Esk-towards-St-Catherines-church-1.jpg\" alt=\"Stepping stones crossing the River Esk towards St Catherines church\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The route eventually climbs alongside the banks of the beck, revealing a series of wooden footbridges. The base of the lower falls will come into view, where you can admire the magical 60ft drop in its entirety.<\/p>\n<p>A trail continues upstream, revealing the Stanley Ghyll Waterfall Viewing Platform. Idyllically positioned at the height of this Eskdale waterfall, there&#8217;s no better viewpoint to admire this stunning Lake District landmark.<\/p>\n<p>The return simply follows your footsteps back to the start point at Dalegarth Train Station.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Stanley Ghyll Force Walk Map<\/h2>\n<p>The Lake District National Park Authority have designed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lakedistrict.gov.uk\/visiting\/things-to-do\/walking\/routes-and-maps\/routes-and-maps2\/map-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stanley Ghyll Force Walk map.<\/a> This includes an alternative return route should you wish to extend your outdoor adventure!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Stanley Ghyll Waterfall Viewing Platform<\/h2>\n<p>Positioned directly above Stanley Ghyll Waterfall is a metalwork viewing point. Where better to soak in the sights of this cascading Eskdale waterfall?<\/p>\n<p>This cantilevered viewpoint extends out over a 150ft sheer drop.
