Allan Bank, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/grasmere-cottages.html\">Grasmere<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/allan-bank-and-grasmere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Trust&#8217;s Allan Bank<\/a> is a great place to spot red squirrels in the Lake District.<\/p>\n<p>This Grade II listed building was once the home of William Wordsworth, but is now a relaxed place for visitors to come and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>Cosy up by the fire inside and grab a pair of binoculars by the window, or venture into the extensive grounds and spot red squirrels hopping about in the trees!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alicewillsphotography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-957\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lakelovers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/08\/14570721_1214697988589210_7469776969128984287_o.jpg\" alt=\"Red squirrel in the wild at Allan Bank, Grasmere\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>2. Smardale Nature Reserve, Kirkby Stephen<\/h2>\n<p>Enjoy a walk along Smardale Gill and onto Smardale Viaduct, spotting red squirrels running alongside you in the trees. There&#8217;s loads on offer here &#8211; from walking routes to mountain bike trails, and GoApe adventures plus family play areas, you could easily spend a whole day here.
