Pooley Bridge is a vibrant little village in an awesome location right at the head of Ullswater.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The river Eamont runs out of the lake here, down through Eamont Bridge, where it joins the River Eden, near Langwathby.\u00a0 <\/span>During Storm Desmond in 2015, the famous 18th century bridge was washed away into the lake.\u00a0 <\/span>It has now been replaced with a modern stainless steel and stone version, linking the road around the lake again. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a great choice of pubs, shops, restaurants and cafes, and walks from the village centre, you can easily spend a lovely few days exploring and getting to know Pooley Bridge and its neighbouring villages and hamlets.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s easily accessible from Junction 40 of the M6, and Ullswater Steamers call here on many of their circular cruises around the lake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where to walk\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Ullswater Way<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ullswater Way was launched a couple of years ago, and you can tackle parts of it or the whole lot \u2013 it’s 21 miles with an option to extend out to Lowther.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Howtown to Glenridding walk we believe is one of the most beautiful lakeshore walks you would ever find.\u00a0 <\/span>Head south from PB alongside the car park and the lakeshore down to Waterfoot farm and campsite.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simply follow the waymarked footpath meandering its way alongside the lake, passing through Patterdale, Side Farm and then back along to Glenridding.\u00a0 <\/span>You can then explore the village and its pubs and jump on a Steamer to take you back up the lake to Pooley Bridge.\u00a0 <\/span>What a great day out.<\/p>\n
