1) Cherry Garth<\/a>, Ullswater<\/h3>\n

Cherry Garth in Hartsop is an ideal location for keen cyclists. Looking to pick up some ascent speed training? Enjoy a cycling holiday in one of the most picturesque and private locations you could imagine. Cherry Garth is off the beaten track, with some of the best cycling tracks right on your doorstep. It\u2019s accessible and offers a very high quality cottage holiday, immaculate inside and out.<\/p>\n

Cherry Garth is located in the 17th century village of Hartsop. Ideal for holidaymakers and cyclists wanting peace and tranquillity. Surrounded by beautiful green fields, tress and steep peaks \u2013 you\u2019ll be in very good company.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a great cycling public bridleway straight from the village. It leads to Hayeswater Reservoir and up onto the 800m High Street ridge. Hartsop also has a trail running north, towards the Boredale Valley, which runs into Ullswater\u2019s quiet eastern shore. Superb terrain for some proper cycling.<\/p>\n

2) Heathfield<\/a>, Keswick<\/h3>\n

Heathfield perfect for an active family holiday or group gathering, where you plan to out and explore Derwentwater and the surrounding\u00a0area. You\u2019ll find a family-size bathroom and 2 en-suites, making this an ideal holiday home for\u00a02 couples or a family with older children (not suitable for under 16s).<\/p>\n

A short stroll and you\u2019re in Keswick, where you\u2019ll find a superb theatre, cinema, award-winning outdoor market and lots of shops and eating options.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve brought your bikes with you, you\u2019ll find yourself excellently positioned for some day trips in the saddle. Keswick lies on the\u00a0Coast to Coast cycle route 71 and here\u2019s a brochure<\/a> with some more cycling routes from Keswick.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to hire bikes, Whinlatter Forest is only a 15 minute drive away and is home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Lakes. You\u2019ll find GoApe here too for a different kind of adrenalin rush. For older kids, there\u2019s a free BMX track, and great zip-wire at Fitz Park, just off Market Square in Keswick.<\/p>\n

Keswick is one of the most dog-friendly towns in the UK and so don\u2019t forget to bring pooch too.<\/p>\n

3) Little Lark Cottage<\/a>, Ambleside<\/h3>\n

Located on the lower slopes of Wansfell, just outside Ambleside, Little Lark Cottage is a very pretty little hideaway. You\u2019ll find some lovely little extra\u2019s in this home-from-home,\u00a0such as the tall Smeg fridge with ice compartment for fuelling hungry cyclists, handy utility room for dirty gear and a luxurious bathroom with monsoon shower and large bathtub for soothing muscles after a day hitting the trails.<\/p>\n

Ambleside is the outdoor gear capital of the Lakes and so avid cyclist will enjoy a shop and visit to the hire store too. Ambleside to Langdale is a popular cycling\u00a0route, starting from the centre of Ambleside.\u00a0Grizedale Forest is popular with mountain bikers, and this 21 miles loop takes you from Ambleside to parts of Grizedale, into Hawkshead and back via Wray Castle on the shore of Lake Windermere. Nearby Tarn Hows is great for easy off-road cycling for families. Something for everyone!<\/p>\n

4) Little Orchard<\/a>,\u00a0Lyth Valley<\/h3>\n

When holidaying at Little Orchard you have arrived in the land of ye olde English pastoral bliss. Visit at this time of year (from April onwards) and the valley puts on the most magical display of beautiful damson blossom. Pretty little orchards will soon be filled with the sweet fruit. Soon to end up as local special gin and jams, sold along the country lanes.<\/p>\n

A delightful network of tiny lanes are best enjoyed on bike. You can ride through the countryside, taking in the sights, smells and sounds. Stop off at the several superb gastro pubs dotted around the Lyth Valley.<\/p>\n

Little Orchard is a very spacious property with 2 en-suite shower rooms, garage for gear storage as well as cloakroom and great garden with beautiful views. Perfect for a \u2018wheel\u2019 good family holiday.<\/p>\n
