If you choose a clear day, the ratio of views to effort is unbeatable. Halfway along you\u2019ll pass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hicksironcraft.co.uk\/\">Steve Hicks, Blacksmith<\/a> workshop. It\u2019s always interesting to look at some examples of his fantastic work.<\/p>\n<p>At the summit, you\u2019ll find the toposcope from which you can see many of the Lakeland fells highlighted. There are a few benches to sit and enjoy your flask of tea and take your photos too.<\/p>\n<p>Simply return back down the lane, or alternatively you can explore some of the paths heading north, down to Causeway farm, through St Catherine\u2019s Wood and along the paths back to the start.<\/p>\n<p>Wainwright said, \u201c<em>Orrest Head, for many of us is \u2018where we came in\u2019- our first ascent in Lakeland, our first sight of mountains in tumultuous array across glittering waters, our awakening to beauty.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is a popular walk, and often busy when the weather is being kind.
