Book online for cottages that sleep 6-8 in Cartmel and bring the kids mates with you, or have that long overdue holiday with friends.

This collection of Cartmel cottages sleeping 6 to 8 guests have been hand-picked for families. They are ideal for older children, couples looking for a large group getaway or friends getting together. You’ll find sociable spaces, modern conveniences and private gardens with impressive views.

First up on a family holiday in Cartmel or group get-together, we’d recommend a wander on foot around the medieval village. The beautiful River Eea runs through the village. The 12th century Priory on one side and the famous Cartmel Races running along the other side. In-between there’s a pretty chocolate-box high street running in and around the Gatehouse and Market Square.

Whilst you have lots of hands for carrying, stock up your self-catering cottage from an excellent array of shops. Visit The Village Shop where you’ll want to try the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. Then there’s Cartmel Cheese in Unsworth Yard, where you’ll also find Cartmel Brewery. The tasting bar is worth a quick stop-off.

There’s a convenience Premier store in the village centre too. There you can get meat from the acclaimed Higginson’s Butchers, from nearby Grange. Grange-over-Sands is only a few miles away, where you can pick up any unusual store cupboard ingredients.

Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, our hand-picked selection of Lake District holiday cottages offer a fantastic base for exploring all that the Lake District has to offer. From luxury cottages to properties with free leisure club membership, we have something for everyone.

Treat guests to an amazing Virtual Reality tour of the impressive Cartmel Priory. Look out for events here too, such as BBQ’s and dramatic theatre performances.

For evening entertainment, we’d recommend booking in at one of Simon Rogan’s acclaimed foodie establishments. The award-winning chef has an allotment and farm in Cartmel. Which, along with his foraging, feeds his creative menus at L’Enclume and Rogan & Co.

Cartmel Races, running behind the Village Shop, has an attractive events calendar. And of course there’s always a lot of fun to be had putting a punt on.

Once you’ve taken in the rich history of this medieval village, explore the surrounding forests. Traverse the chocolate-box country lanes on none-other than a Segway. They can be hired from the village’s Lakeland Segway company. Holiday groups with older children will love the escape room challenges too – the Cliffhanger Rooms.

For daytrips in the surrounding area, we’d recommend Lakeland Miniature Village, Haverthwaite-Lakeside Railway, Lakeland Motors, South Lakes Safari Zoo. A trip onto Windermere with Windermere Lake Cruises and a look at what lurks beneath at the Lakes Aquarium is worth a visit too.
