“I loved this property and felt very calm after the week's stay.”
It was unusually warm weather with temperatures of around 26 deg daily, so the woodland setting provided welcome cover from the hot sun and good views between the trees. If you want to climb mountains, particularly Blencathra, this is the place for you with a footpath two minutes walk away. Me and my little Cockapoo did six walks, including Blencathra TWICE and didn't use the car for the whole stay. We walked into Keswick on one occasion and got the bus back. Derwent View is a simply furnished cottage - the absence of posh furniture, a tiny TV, and no washing machine should not detract from the enjoyment. I would recommend bringing bird/squirrel food as there is a feeder and red squirrels abound (also a 'resident' pheasant which jumped onto the bird table!) as well as birds, mostly chaffinches, robbins, nuthatches and blue tits when I was there.) There is a pleasant walk into the village via Westcoe, which avoids the main road. If you bring some pegs you can do a bit of washing as there is a washing line at the property. A delightful, quiet holiday place and dark at night as no light pollution.
