The bookcase is packed with a variety of local guidebooks and maps for arranging your excursions, as well as a variety of coffee table books and novels. Climb the stairs to find two welcoming, well-appointed, and spacious super king-size bedrooms; the master bedroom, which can be made into a twin on request, has a king-size bed and an additional double sofa bed, as well as a lovely en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and heated tiled floor. With its vaulted ceiling, Velux windows, exposed roof trusses, and sumptuous thick pile carpet, the bedroom is the best soothing area to decompress. A separate, contemporary family bathroom with underfloor heating and a powerful shower over a good-sized bath serves the second super king-size room with its gorgeous rustic timber framed bed. The cottage lies on the outskirts of the village, which is hidden within the lush Northern Fells, with access to some excellent hikes, proper pubs, and secluded lakes and tarns. The Old Crown, a Cooperatively run village pub, sells its own selection of beers produced on site as well as great home cooked bar meals; make a reservation in advance, as tables fill up rapidly. There are plenty of fantastic locations to visit if you want to travel further afield to dine or drink. Bassenthwaite, a short drive away, has wonderful lake and riverside strolling, as well as a magnificent spa, the Lake District Wildlife Park, and Cumbria's only distillery, all of which are well worth a visit. The cottage is also close to the rest of the Lake District and all of the activities that an outdoor enthusiast could enjoy. The next town, Keswick, provides a variety of amenities and is located near Derwentwater, where you may swim, canoe, paddle board, or sail, as well as the famous Wainwright fell, Cat Bells. You might also want to pay a visit to the Keswick Adventure Centre, the Theatre by the Lake, or one of the town's many pubs, shops, and restaurants. At Ostlers Barn, whisk your loved ones away for an unforgettable experience.
