Situated in the little village of Portinscale just outside Keswick, this offers an first class locations for relaxing, socialising, walking, cycling, sailing, canoeing and enjoying the very best of the Lake District. With a great choice of walks from the door, a popular village pub, the Walled Garden at Lingholme for afternoon tea there really is something for everyone but best of all Derwentwater House provides the perfect venue for groups of friends and extended families to come together and spend time together creating memories that will last a lifetime Accommodation In Detail Derwentwater House offers plenty of space for everyone and the finish, attention to detail and quality is evident through this amazing property. The layout of the house takes a little time to get to know and so guests will all want to explore and get to know this house from the moment they step through the door. There is a choice of reception rooms with a welcoming sitting room and a smart lounge both offering lake views and the latter with a cosy log burning stove, these beautifully furnished rooms are complemented by a TV room with large screen TV and soundbar. The large dining/kitchen sits at the very heart of the house with the family dining table seating up to 20 guests and ideal for special celebrations of all kinds and to prepare for those celebrations there is a well planned, well equipped kitchen with electric double oven, 5 ring electric hob, two integrated fridge/freezers, plate warmer, wine cooler and an extensive inventory of quality crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchenware. The first of the bedrooms is also on the ground floor and with lovely views over the garden it is presented with a kingsize bedroom with ensuite wet room with shower, basin and WC. Stairs leader down to the former servants’ quarters on the ground floor and today these rooms have been re-presented as a billiards room, games room with TV and laundry room with washer and drier. The first floor offers a fantastic choice of bedrooms that starts with the superb master suite with lake view, four poster bed, balcony and ensuite bathroom with feature bath. The further bedrooms offer a choice of two king size bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms with spa baths, two kingsize bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms and two twin rooms also with ensuite shower rooms. All the bedrooms are individually designed and finished to the highest standard and offer a choice of lake or garden views. To the side of the main house is the garden cottage that offers further accommodation and is presented with three further super bedrooms,two with kingsize bed and ensuite and the other with a choice of king size or twin bed and the cottage also offers a small breakfast kitchen and a quiet sitting room. Location The village of Portinscale is a quiet village on the north east shores of Derwentwater, within easy reach of Keswick and with easy access to easy access to the lake and a great choice of local walks. The popular local pub the Farmers Arms server's great food and local beer and a short walk through the village leads to the imposing Lingholme Estate where foodies can relax over breakfast, lunch or tea at the award winning Lingholme Kitchen and Walled Garden. The Chalet right across the street is ideal for breakfast and lunch. The nearby market town of Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. Keswick also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts, outdoor clothing and much, much more. Keswick is a level one mile walk along a footpath from the cottage. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won't be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; - Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby; head underground at Honister Slate Mines or take the Via Ferrata challenge; enjoy mountain biking or follow the walking trails in Whinlatter Forest. For steam train enthusiasts there is the little train at Threlkeld Mining museum or the L'al Ratty which heads up into the hills from Ravenglass on the West Coast. For day trips throughout the Lake District Ullswater is a short drive away offering lake cruises, great walking and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall; Buttermere and Crummock Water offer sublime scenery; Ashness Bridge and Surprise View, situated above the Borrowdale Valley, should not be missed and perhaps even a cup of tea and homemade cake in the unspoilt village of Watendlath.
