“Amazing house and perfect location!”

Would highly recommend and Stay again! Only one criticism was that the toilets weren’t clean when we arrived. Both the middle floor and top floor toilets were dirty. Apart from that everything was spotless!

“The cottage exceeded our expectations!”

The beds were soooo comfortable, the kitchen really well equipped, lots of comfy seating in the living room area. Such a thoughtful welcome basket too, and an easy walk into town so a great location. A general feeling of space and comfort, we all loved it! Just 2 tiny, easily fixed problems in the main bathroom: the toilet seat kept slipping and needs tightening and the sink needs unclogging - it had some difficulty draining. Having said that the showers were wonderful!

! comfy beds, lots of room, great layout for having my little one run around. fantastic location, there was plenty of room for 6 adults a 4yr old and a toddler plus 2 dogs. i would stay here again.

“What a great place!”

Was really impressed with the facilities in the kitchen. Plenty of utensils, crockery ect. The beds we’re comfortable, plenty of towels and the welcome hamper was a great touch. It was very well located with the amenities of Keswick only a 5 min walk. The only thing I could nitpick at is that it was cold downstairs even when you could turn up the temperature. Obviously you could put the log burner on which was very toasty once

“We had a fantastic stay and appreciated all the little touches thankyou.”

All 7 of us were complimentary about all aspects of the house and locality. I did end up ringing the helpline on Friday as we had brought food to cook and we couldn’t get power to oven. The one set of appliance instructions missing was about the oven. We knew there was a power switch on to the right of hob, twiddled every button and checked fuse box!? Eventually we discovered the switch hidden from view on the left of the hob hidden behind utensils box….. and felt stupid we hadn’t found it. However it might be worth some idiot proof instructions writing on a paper as the oven itself has a number of dials. No criticism intended. Thanks Sue

“Great house, great location, 5 minutes walk from the town.”

It was spotless and 8 adults and two dogs fitted in no problem. If I could give a negative I would but I don't have one. We had a ball, warm and comfortable. My only minor critique is to provide a short instruction on using the induction hob. It was excellent but I needed to google the manual. Some may not be able to do that. That's it, no other issues, we loved it.

Clean, comfortable & cosy, but with plenty of space. The outdoor space was a bonus for our two dogs. Blencathra Cottage is a real home from home, with lots of little touches which enhance your stay, including the welcome pack (far superior to others). I would definitely recommend.

Everything you could possibly need was there ready for you and the welcome basket was a lovely, thoughtful touch. The size of the property was great and, even though there were 7 adults in our party, we never felt cramped and could all sit together. It really felt like a home from home but with much better views! The house is really modern and clean and I loved the log burning stove, it felt so cosy. The location is also great as it’s within easy walking distance of the centre of town with all it has to offer. We all said we would like to stay at the house again in the future.

VERY comfortable, plenty of seating, huge amount of kitchen utensils (we wanted for nothing) and the property was in a great location. All appliance instructions were easy to find and the appliances were easy to operate. Several constructive emails from the owner that helped with our stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

“Excellent holiday accommodation.”

Really clean on arrival and very covid compliant. Good location for town and shops and walking in the Keswick area. Extremely well equipped in all areas. Spacious rooms. Nice to find some detailed maps of The Lakes to look at. Very good information received from the owner prior to arrival. Didn't need to use the car all the time, as quite a few walks in the area. Recommend walking to Lingholm Estate for brunch and then taking the ferry from Hawse End back to Keswick. Nice park within 2 minutes walk for exercising the dog. Would stay again.

“The cottage was beautiful, spotless , well equipped , great location in fact couldn’t fault it at all , the Sykes experience when having to change our booking because of COVID however was very disappointing and frustrating with lots of non return of phone calls etc and not very helpful in general.”

I have just booked for another break next year and hope we don’t experience any of these problems ,this will obviously influence whether we use Sykes again ,hopefully we will because Blencathra cottage was ideal for our needs .

“After an extremely disappointing house in Keswick last year, what a breath of fresh air Blencathra Cottage has been!”

Soo clean, soo light, soo well equipped, a very generous welcome basket, superb communication with the owner! If I had to find fault: the laminate kitchen floor could do with knocking back together in a couple of places, the cheese grater could do with replacing and, although there was loads of hot water (just as well because that amazing bath took some filling!), only one set of taps could be on at a time due to the water pressure. These were extremely minor niggles though in what was an exceptional house in an exceptional location. Oh, and did I mention the views??? Wow!!!!

My only suggestion is that as it is a dog friendly property and they do not want dogs to go upstairs that maybe a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs would be helpful for bed time.

The accommodation suited our family setup perfectly and was furnished with every conceivable item of equipment to ensure our stay went smoothly, plus any concerns regarding cleanliness in the current climate were soon dispelled as it was spotless! We would certainly want to stay at Blencathra cottage again. It was therefore a real shame that our experience with Sykes was so stressful. I realise that we have been in unchanged times with COVID 19, but Sykes did not make the process easy. No telephone line to seek advice, numerous emails ignored, money taken from my account for an original booking that could not take place due to lockdown to name a few of the many frustrations. You only have to see the number of Facebook groups setup to realise that we were not alone in receiving appalling service.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year.
