“Very nice well kept property in a great location.”

Couldn’t have asked for more, we liked all the little finishing touches like providing towels and a place to dry the dog, tissues and kitchen roll and cling film and clean products in the kitchen. These are so often overlooked in other holiday homes and it was refreshing to not have to worry about going to the shops to get hold of these things. The only minor problem was that the mattresses felt like they were a bit worn. Other than that we had a truly excellent week.

Thank you for your feedback and we are so pleased that you enjoyed yourselves. If people don't say anything, then we can't take any steps to put things right. So thank you for your comments about the matresses. We have new ones being delivered today. Best wishes Les and Jan Property Owner

The property

Heathfield is located in the popular Crosthwaite area of Keswick and within easy walking distance of the town centre and market square. This 1930s property had been refurbished to a very high standard by its current owners and offers spacious and luxurious accommodation for four people and is an ideal base for friends to relax and enjoy the combination of quality accommodation in a great location. The vibrant Market square is just a ten minute walk from the cottage, with its twice weekly, award winning, market and a great selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. The spacious lounge is a great place to relax and the dining room with a large dining table, and views of the garden, is the ideal place to socialise with friends. For those wanting to get out and about there are numerous options for walks direct from the door from the popular walk along the old railway to Threlkeld, or take in the beautiful views across Derwantwater and Bassenthwaite from Latrigg and of course the fell walkers will walk straight out of the garden gate and head directly to Skiddaw, the Lake District's fourth highest mountain that towers over the town. Heathfield offers a first class accommodation in a great location and is the idea base for a great holiday whatever the time of year. == Accommodation in detail The property is approached from the road through the pretty front garden and the front door opens to a spacious hallway. All the rooms in the property are of a great size, as you would expect in a property of this style, and are bright, light and airy. The hallway opens to a bright south facing lounge with large picture window, comfy sofas, living flame gas fire and large screen Smart TV. To the rear of the property the large dining room, with living flame gas fire, is the ideal place to gather over dinner at the large dining table that overlooks the garden and patio. To the side of the property there is a fully fitted, well equipped kitchen complete with gas hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washing machine, making it the ideal place to cook up everything from a traditional Lakeland breakfast of a celebration dinner with friends. The stairs from the hall way leads to the landing and to two spacious and well-furnished bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a double bed, both with Smart TVs and both complemented with luxurious ensuite shower rooms. For those who would prefer to relax in the bath after a day on the fells, the high quality family bathroom is a welcome retreat. To the rear of the property there is a lovely patio with a hot tub area with table and chairs, making it the ideal place to enjoy a glass of wine or a morning coffee with the papers, and a pretty, lawned, garden. At the bottom of the garden the secure out-house offers a sauna and other also houses the tumble drier. There is private parking for two cars to the rear of the property. Unfortunately this cottage is unsuitable for children under 16 years old. Location Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. The town also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and much, much more. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won't be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby, head underground at Honister Slate Mines, enjoy mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest. For day trips throughout the Lake District, Ullswater is a short drive away offering lake cruises, great walking and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall, Buttermere and Crummock Water offer sublime scenery. Ashness Bridge and Surprise View situated above the Borrowdale Valley should not be missed and perhaps even a cup of tea and homemade cake in the unspoilt village of Watendlath.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
