Found resting a short distance away from the exciting centre of Keswick is this beautiful Scandinavian-style lodge, Blencathra 14, promising a wonderful holiday base for those wishing to explore this part of the Lakes. The property enjoys a reverse-level layout to make the most of the superb views and is perfectly set up for a couple seeking to spend quality time together and to enjoy all that this part of the country has to offer. After an action-packed day, head up to the first floor to discover the open-plan living room, which boasts a large picture window so that you can admire the treetops views no matter where you are in the room. The well-equipped kitchen comes with an an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, allowing you to cater your own delicious meals and the dining table makes a great sociable space to tuck into dinner before mapping out the next day's adventure. Afterwards, choose to sink into the sofa and browse the channels of the TV or during a balmy evening, take a drink out onto the balcony to catch the final glimpses of sunshine before retiring to bed. Find your sleeping spot on the ground floor; here, you will find a plush king-size bedroom with access to an en-suite, containing a bath so that you can savour a moment of relaxation after a long walk upon one of the many fells in the area. Look forward to exploring your surroundings further as you head into the town centre of Keswick, home to a twice weekly award-winning market, as well as a number of shops and supermarkets for picking up any essentials. For the nights where you do not feel like cooking, be spoilt for choice by the selection of bars, cafes and restaurants of all kinds, so you are certain to find something to suit all tastes. Be sure to make some time to visit the 100 year old Alhambra, an old-school, first-class cinema in traditional surroundings or venture to the charming 400-seat Theatre by the Lake on the shores of Derwentwater to catch a film. To keep you busy whilst here, find a myriad of outdoor pursuits, including regular cruises on the waters of Derwentwater or don your walking shoes and hike the fells of Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra for some breath-taking moments. Other attractions within the nearby area include heading underground to explore the Honister Slate Mines or bring along your two-wheels for an adventure in the Whinlatter Forest, or head further afield to the beautiful Ullswater, where you will find the Aira Force Waterfall and to the town of Ambleside. The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
