The property

Keswick 2 miles. Resting in the Naddle Valley in the Lake District, just a few miles from Keswick is this 16th century farmhouse, Pyet. Breath-taking views of Helvellyn and Blencathra are what make this holiday home special, with a lovely garden to soak up the scenery from and traditional, original features within. Discover slate flooring and timber beams on entering the property, making your way into the sitting room where a feature fireplace adds further character, next to the TV and plush sofas. The dining room is the perfect place for playing a good board game brought from home and gathering together for family meals with the window framing more beautiful scenery. Rustle up your favourite dishes in the more contemporary fitted kitchen, home to all the appliances you need including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, with a dining table in here too and a huge picture window reminding you of the wonder outside, along with a utility cupboard providing a washing machine. The ground floor is home to one of the four lovely bedrooms which all feature sleek, en-suite shower rooms, with this one boasting a double bed, a TV and benefitting from its own walk-in dressing room. Head upstairs to find two more double rooms with TVs, along with a twin room, and a bathroom on the half-landing. From here, head outside into the enclosed garden to make the most of the outdoor space in the warm weather, sitting at the picnic bench for lunch alfresco as you gaze at the astounding surrounding mountainous scenery. Plenty of walks can be enjoyed from your doorstep, one being up to Castlerigg Stone Circle, a monument thought to be over 5000 years old and now an English Heritage site, it makes a great choice for an easy ramble to start the day off with. Venture over to Derwentwater for a leisurely amble around the lake, with boat hire available allowing you to cruise along the waters or try some watersports like paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and canoeing, great activities for all the family. Explore the pretty town of Keswick where you'll find all the essentials for your self-catered stay from supermarkets to local, independent shops, as well as bistros, restaurants and pubs to enjoy delicious food. Be impressed by the many optical illusions in the unique Puzzling Place before learning about the local history at Keswick Museum and Derwent Pencil Museum, or head up to Mirehouse & Gardens and wander around the estate of this tranquil Cumbrian manor house set near the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake. Blencathra and Skiddaw are perfect for a group expedition with plenty of trails for different abilities to choose from, whilst Helvellyn, Thirlmere and Windermere are all just a scenic drive away. Soak up the unforgettable scenery of the Lakes from Pyet.
