“We stayed here a long time ago and loved the house and location then, and it was even better this time as it’s been “done up”.”

The decor and furnishings are beautiful and it was very much home from home. The only minor issues were the fact no oven gloves were provided-never experienced that before in a rental home and surely it’s a safety issue not to provide them? Also we couldn’t get the light to switch off in the upstairs bathroom.

Thank you for choosing to stay again at Underheron and for taking the time to give feedback following your stay. Firsty we are delighted that you decided to return and that you had an enjoyable holiday, please accept our sincere apologies that their was no oven glove left for your stay out caretaker usually leave one during every changeover we can only think that she has overlooked leaving one for your stay she would however have been more than happy to deliver one to you had you made contact the bathroom light has been checked and is in working order the mirror in that room is touch sensitive rather than having a switch and we wonder if this may be what you have made reference to nevertheless we hope this did not detract from your enjoyment of Underheron and the Lake District. Bliss for you and heaven for kids! == Accommodation in detail Recently renovated to a high standard, Underheron has added that wow factor to every room. The property is newly completed and has light and airy accommodation throughout. Set in a seclude area of Grasmere, Underheron has parking for 2 – 3 cars outside. Entering through the front entrance you will find space in the hallway for muddy boots and walking gear. This then leads into the large, light and open modern kitchen with its high quality appliances and glass ceiling and seating for 4, this makes the perfect social place to share breakfast. Continue through and you will enter the very spacious and beautifully designed living room and integrated sun room with its bright aspect, dining table to seat 8 and long floor length windows throughout. The extra-large corner sofa centres the room, which is perfect to relax on after a day on the fells whilst cosying up next to the log burner. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms one of which is the Master Kingsize bedroom which has an ensuite and features exclusive access to the rear garden via large patio doors. The other bedroom on this level is the twin bedroom which has the ground floor family bathroom opposite with walk in shower. Heading upstairs in the eaves there are two further spacious bedrooms, one of which is a double bedroom and the other featuring twin beds both with large velux windows to let in natural light. These rooms share a large walk in shower room with WC and wash basin. There are mature gardens to the front and rear of the property which includes a stream running past, small waterfall and patio area with seating for up to eight guests. Badger, Deer and red squirrels are regularly spotted, so keep a look out! Location Grasmere is a historic village at the very heart of the Lakes, west of Ambleside and north of Coniston and Hawkshead. The village centre has a number of useful shops, market, tea rooms and a select few very good restaurants - including the Good Food Guide listed Jumble Room. Although hugely popular with tourists and walkers, Grasmere remains a relaxed village location with a real air of history. In the village you can explore the legacy of artists who've been inspired by the landscapes around the village - of particular note is the Heaton Cooper Studio. The famous poet William Wordsworth lived in Grasmere while writing some of his most famous poetry. His former home can be visited at Dove Cottage & the Wordsworth Museum, and his family grave is one of the most visited literary shrines in the world. A holiday cottage in Grasmere provides easy access to no end of fabulous Lake District walks. Try the route up to Easedale Tarn in the fells above the village, visit the shores of nearby Rydal Water, or take on Fairfield, Silver How or Loughrigg to name but a few!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
