    “We have just spent Christmas in Beechside, Everything was absolutely perfection; there wasn’t one thing to even begin to fault.”

    The cleanliness was outstanding, comfort excellent, the kitchen was perfect, no problem at all cooking Xmas lunch for four adults. Beds were very comfortable, and bathrooms perfect. Xmas tree was a delight. We were left a very generous delicious hamper, everything down to crackers and festive napkins. The location is very good albeit a bit of a hill to return to from a very pleasant walk into Ambleside. We would not hesitate to recommend Beechside, and would love to return.

Beautifully converted in the former bobbin mill, on the banks of Stock Ghyll Waterfalls, Beechside is a deceptively spacious property that has been finished to a very high standard by its current owners who have set out to create a high quality and luxurious retreat in one of the Lake District's most popular locations. The bright and welcoming lounge, with its high vaulted ceiling is a great place to relax and socialise and is complemented by a unique mezzanine level reading room complete with the owners' very own Lakeland Library to help you plan your next walk or to learn more about the rich history or literary heritage the area has to offer. The bustling village of Ambleside is just a ten minute walk away and offers a great selection of local bars, restaurants and cafes along with a great range of local shops many selling local produce. Returning to Beechside you will find a well-appointed kitchen that is the perfect place to prepare everything from a great Lakeland breakfast to a fantastic dinner to share with family or friends Situated in the heart of the Lake District there are a myriad of walks from the door, follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth and enjoy an afternoon stroll to Grasmere, the more adventurous might head out onto Fairfield Horseshoe a favourite of many a Lakeland Fell walker and if you believe a little effort deserves a reward why not watch the sunset from the top of the nearby Wansfell! == Accommodation in detail The bright and airy living area offers dining around the large glass top dining table, comfortable leather sofas and large patio windows opening onto the riverside balcony overlooking Stock Ghyll Reached by steps from the parking area, this property is spread over two floors. On entering through the front door, on the first floor there is a handy cupboard in the hallway for the storage of boots, coats and walking gear. The modern kitchen is well appointed and finished to a high standard. Upstairs the landing leads to a beautifully furnished reading room with roof lights offering views to the neighbouring fells and guests are welcome to browse the owners' Lakeland Library! The largest of the three bedrooms includes a vaulted ceiling and a large feature window overlooking the river and the nearby woodland. The family bathroom on this floor includes a bath with shower over. A covered veranda, compete with patio furniture runs across the front of the property and is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. The riverside balcony from the lounge offers more privacy and in a lovely place to relax. Location This large Ambleside self-catering apartment enjoys a wonderful location; peacefully secluded within its riverside development yet only a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside. Ambleside village is located on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. The surrounding scenery of Lakeland Fells is dramatic, and lends a stunning backdrop to the Lakeland stone buildings and attractive streets of the village. Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
